This particular model really worked hard at involving the camera and pulled some very entertaining poses towards the camera and it really showed in the photographs that I was able to capture.
Personally I was very impressed with the level of craftsmanship that was presented on the evening - although encapsulated in the safe place behind the camera. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and with the blessing of the powers that be from the university I will return in 12 months time.
I think I’d like to just mention all the hidden people that have assisted with the creation of the garments presented. I overheard a number of the students expressing how they wished there was a way they could publicly show their appreciation for the technicians and persons who normally remain nameless and assisted the students in their working to produce amazing garments - so this is you thanked.
Manchester to Blackpool Run
Today I was able to go and photograph just under 50 pre-1980’s cars. They were invited by the Lancashire Automobile Club and were dispatched from the Worsley Old Hall, in Worsley, Manchester.
I enjoy events with cars and tend to go for more speedy events like rallys. But today having been given the opportunity I find that its amazing to see how well preserved some of the vehicles are, in fact I bet some of them only get brought out once a year.
Kneeling on the floor was killing my kneeling knee but then again the pictures do look so much better if you can get the lower angle. At that level there was also a very strong smell of premium fuel - I bet some of these cars would have run happily on crude oil closer to the start of their lives.
Well I hope they all made it to sunny Blackpool in the times allocated and I look forward to hearing some of the tales.
Please visit my photobox gallery if you would like to purchase any of the prints from the event.
The Manchester 10K Run
I just had this funny feeling that I knew this guys face but I could really not place it. And to think its the guy out of Eastenders after all. I was starting to think that my celebrity count was quite low for this year and I turn up with this gem.
The lighting bobbed around from being very good to being relatively flat. This is a shot from when it brightened up. I love the expression on the face, he had around 350 metres left to run … I’d be begging for oxygen if I’d just run that far.
The Manchester 10K Run - 90 Years Old and 500m to go.
Well it was a warm, cloudy and sunny at times Sunday morning and the Manchester BUPA 10K race was happening again. My favourite bit of going out and shooting this race is to see the smile on the face of the 90 year old lady that does the course with her two helpers from the hospice. The funny thing for me is that there are more able bodied competitors that are actually behind this lady.
Speedy Shoes
Its the Manchester 10K race tomorrow and at this present moment I am definitely going to be going and doing a little bit of photography. Although I do like the pictures that show the elite athletes bounding towards the finish line - I also like to record the people that have definitely pushed themselves to the limit and those that push the limit on costume sensibility.
If you are running then all the best, and here’s to your best times. Look out for me I will be near the finishing line after the bridge over the Mancunian Way on the end of the central reservation if they will allow me, but before the bridge and the ever so high Beecham Tower.
Vote for Me
JPG the magazine take votes on images submitted under different themes to include in their magazine. This is the first time that I have submitted. To the theme ‘Street Fashion’, I was looking back through my collection and remembered this image and I thought that it fit the theme very well. Take a moment to vote for the image - the more votes I get the more likely it is to appear in the publication.
Addition - 15 June, right voting for this theme is now over, all you can do now is wish me luck …
Addition - 16 August, not a winner this time - better luck next time!
Golden Hour
When people say that there is a Golden hour for 60 minutes after sunrise and 60 minutes at sunset, believe them as this photograph illustrates. I have never actually managed to be anywhere before that was photographically significant at sunrise - I was astounded by the quality of the light.
I’m back
Back up and running
Please bare with my whilst I get the hang of this new theme, which could take a couple of days to just get right. Also ignor any random text on any pages - I will make sure that everything is working again…
